“Night…steals away the day, and then the forest trolls and faeries dance their time away!” So begins “Trolls”, with a moonlit dance of the Forest Trolls, who live in the trees. Conflict has come between the humans of the towns and the trolls of the forests, because the humans, growing more and more numerous, are cutting down too many trees where the Forest Trolls live. What the humans didn’t know was that every time they killed a tree without warning, the forest trolls who lived in its branches were killed. Soon, the Forest Trolls, with help from their cousins, the Mountain Trolls, took matters into their own hands and posted a decree stating “No human shall enter the forest or chop down any fir tree, on pain of death!”

Mixing in elements of Scandinavian folklore in a classic fairy tale setting, “Trolls” shows what happens when ignorance, misunderstanding, selfishness and “…all the usual reasons” cause a rift between people who once were friends, and how the selflessness and compassion of a young girl help bring them back together.

People bring gifts of all kinds to the Queen in hopes of lifting her out of her despair, but all she really wants is a tree for the Winter Solstice, “Something Alive”. Three young girls brave the forest and the wrath of the trolls to rescue a tree stolen from them in order to bring it to the queen. Along the way, they find out causes for the problems between Trolls and Humans, the feelings of a House Troll, and how to outwit a hungry group of Mountain Trolls.
